About Hal Walter

Hal Walter is a writer, editor and essayist whose work has been published in more than 25 regional and national magazines. He is the author of “Pack-Burro Stories,” and a contributing essayist to the book, “Living in the Runaway West” published by the High Country News. Hal also edited Dr. Phil Maffetone’s book, “In Fitness and In Health.” His monthly column has been published in Colorado Central magazine since 1996, and he was an editor for The Pueblo Chieftain for more than 20 years. Hal’s resume also includes technical writing and editing for Transportation Technology Center Inc., the world’s largest railroad research facility, and photography published in many newspapers and magazines. He writes, edits and manages small ranch properties from his home in Colorado’s Wet Mountains, and has won the Fairplay World Championship Pack-Burro Race six times.
